Whether online, pop-up stalls or with their own brick and mortar premises, we love queer book shops! Though we recognise that not everyone has the option or chooses to buy new, paper copy books from independent sellers, here are a few of our recommendations for those who do.
Queer Lit
A Manchester based online bookstore. If you buy from their online store using this link, 5% of your purchase is automatically donated to our book club and lit fest. Also check out their website for podcasts, vlogs and blogs.
The Bookish Type
After some wonderful pop-up book stores around Leeds, The Bookish Type opened a bricks-and-mortar store in Leeds in 2020. They are also online here. If you are a member of our book club and buying a book from our reading list, use code LEEDSLGBT for 20% off that book.
Portal Bookshop
The Portal Bookshop sells Science Fiction, Fantasy and LGBTQIA+ books. They opened in York in 2019 and also have an online store here.
Gay's the Word
The UK's longest running LGBT+ book shop (you may have seen them in the movie Pride). They have an amazing shop in London (including a display of historic pin badges) and are available online here.
